A blacksmith's daughter searches for a new dragon to help with making fire.

When Nick goes to collect conkers from Cotter's yard, he finds a half-starved dog chained up. Nick leaves with the conkers but plans to rescue the dog later. When he returns the dog is gone. He blames himself, but when he returns home there's a surprise.

When their pirate crew cast them adrift on the ocean wave, it looks like certain death for Caleb and Annie, and their baby daughter Polly. Against all odds, they make it to land and find a new home, but Polly can't seem to settle into normal life. Then, on a school trip, Polly's class comes under attack from pirates - and she finally discovers what she is destined to be!

Tilly is keeping a dragon in her bedroom. Her's family are very worried about it, even though the dragon is very nice and can help make brilliant crunchy toast. So the dragon has to go. It's up to Tilly to find a place that a very polite, very hot and very smoky dragon can call home.
